Babbacombe
Beach, Babbacombe, Nr Torquay.

From Sandy beach

Safe but a few light boats coming and going.

5m if you're lucky, depends on the weather and numbers of students (very
popular)

Flat, sandy, a few rocks, can be a bit silty sometimes.

0-10m

none

Parking was 4 for the day in 2000 Cafe on the beach selling hot/cold food and drink as well as diving bits and
pieces, is owned by "Divers Down" up in the town, they do air fills at the
cafe and nitrox/trimix at the shop up in the town (2 mins by car).  Also a
pub about 30 seconds walk away.

Dogfish, spider crabs, cuttlefish, wrasse, crabs, lobsters, allegedly
a porpoise.

Chesil Cove Portland Dorset

beach is steep-ish

Safe - mostly dive boats

4-8m average 0-15m poss.

Quite variable bottom, stone/silt/sand - Head straight out for sand.

max 14 m

Never known current in the cove but it can pick up if you go too far west.
Even then the current tends to move you along parallel to the shore

Limited free-spaces by the cove, some more free-spaces by The Ship pub and
loads of pay-spaces by Weymouth Scuba (was Parrys).
And please do pay! - the Traffic Wardens are very keen.
No changing facilities that I know of. Plenty of pubs and cafes.

Lots of wrasse - some quite large, shoals of pollack, shoals of sand-eels,
big spider crabs, cuttlefish etc. There's more life if you head east and
there's lots of large rocks to swim over and round which keeps things
interesting

Meadfoot Beach, Meadfoot Sea Rd Torquay

Flat, sandy area, rocky gullies.  can be a bit silty sometimes

Parking on road if you are lucky, otherwise there is a car park. can leave personal possessions with dive shop by cafe.
